The Hype Energy team want to congratulate our F1 partners for such a big achievement after an incredibly successful 2016 season.
Sahara Force India confirmed its fourth place finish in the constructors’ championship after an exciting Abu Dhabi GP in which Nico Hulkenberg ended his final race for the team in seventh place, just ahead of teammate Sergio Perez in eighth. It has been a very special year for many reasons. It’s been Force India's best season ever with a total tally of 173 points. During this year they have achieved a record 30 finishes within the top 10, 12 GP’s where both drivers finished in the points, two podiums and fourth position in the championship!
It has been an amazing journey for Sahara Force India, after humble beginnings in 2008 when they finished 10th, to this incredible fourth position in 2016. The team has gone above and beyond all expectations, but we are not the only ones talking about this incredible achievement. Some well known Formula 1 experts have also highlighted our F1 partners' season:
"For pounds spent in F1, they are the world champions," says Sky F1's Martin Brundle. But just what is the secret of the Silverstone team's success? We have it clear!
Much of the spotlight was on Nico Hülkenberg this weekend. This years Abu Dhabi GP has been his last race as a Sahara Force India driver and he said the following: "It’s great to end my time at Force India with a strong result and help the team finish fourth in the championship. Everybody deserves congratulations and big credit for the amazing job this year. I leave this team with lots of happy memories and Force India will always be a part of my life. I’ve learned a huge amount here and they have made me a better racing driver. We’ve grown up together and I’m proud of what we have achieved.”
Sergio Pérez has also stolen many of the headlines as he had an absolutely stunning season, finishing in seventh position in the driver’s standings and passing the 100 points-mark during the 2016 f1 season: "It was great to finish the season with some points and to end an incredible year with a good result. Now that the season is over, I will go back to Mexico and enjoy some rest. It’s been a long and intense year and I am looking forward to some downtime with friends and family. They’re going to be happy holidays, thinking about what we have achieved this year. I’ll chill out a bit and then it’s back to work for 2017!”

This year, the championship was decided on the Daytona Speedway in Florida, a track famous for its wicked high speed oval which has caught more than a few drivers off guard over the years. On the first day of racing, Florian led from the start, maneuvering magnificently to stay ahead of his biggest rival for the title, Steve Wyatt. The Belgium driver eventually won the highly contested duel and claimed his fifth win in a row. Another thrilling race was still to come, Florian drove brilliantly once again to win in style for the second time in Daytona.
However, it was not all plain sailing for Florian. He was only lying in third place after the races at Sepang (more than half way though the season). Nonetheless, Florian turned on the gas in Singapore, showing great determination and resilience to defy the odds with sensational performances in the latter half of the season, winning every race in Singapore, Fuji and Daytona. He ended the championship with 254 points which was 36 points higher than his nearest rival. He also finished with the most pole positions (8) and fastest laps (9), a fantastic achievement considering there are only 14 races in the whole season!
Florian beautifully summed up his emotions after a encapsulating year:
"I leave this place with memories I will never forget, surrounded by incredible people that I love more than anything, and standing forever as a Champion!”
Congratulations for an amazing year filled with fantastic performances, Florian! We look forward to supporting this young, upcoming and talented individual in many more racing events to come.

The Abu Dhabi GP is the final race of the 2016 Formula 1 season. Sahara Force India are heading to the season finale on the verge of achieving their best ever finish in the constructors' championship. The team led by Vijay Mallya can grab fourth position for the first time in their history:
“Abu Dhabi is the culmination of all our efforts, but there is no room for complacency. Both our drivers have an extra bit of motivation to do well – Checo to cross the 100-point threshold, which would be the first time ever for a Force India driver; Nico to close his Force India adventure on a high. This is a track that brought us some good results in the past and it would be special to end the season in style,” Mallya declared.

The new Hype Energy logo placement on the VJM09 is only part of the deal for the last racing weekend of the year; as both teams will be celebrating together an unforgettable season and the anticipated 4th position of the overall standings on the Hype terrace, at the Sahara Force India facilities right in front of the Yas Marina Circuit.
We can't wait to celebrate the fourth position of the team this Sunday, to congratulate Sergio Pérez for his best season since he started racing in F1; and to give a big hug to Nico Hülkenberg in his last weekend as a member of the Sahara Force India Team.
