Ferrari Challenge heats up in Japan: Fantastic Florian is fruitful at the Fuji speedway.

Florian Merckx is one step closer to winning this years Ferrari Challenge Asia Pacific championship! This week the Belgian driver once again stole the show with two stunning performances coming from behind to win both races at the Fuji speedway, Japan. Florian stated the following after winning the first race in spectacular fashion: “I started from P2 and after some laps I saw an opportunity to pass, went for it, and kept the position to the end ! I can't tell you how it feels to win the race in front of the whole WEC paddock ! Just unbelievable ! Thank you everybody, your support means really a lot to me, and I am so grateful for what life is putting on my path.” This quote perfectly demonstrates Florian’s passion, hunger and humility. These are all personality traits that indicate why he’s a winner and why we are so proud to sponsor him. After winning the second race he went on to say: “It has been fantastic to race in the APAC series this year and was great to collect four wins in a row." With just one race to go, the excitement and energy is building. We wish Florian all the best with the final circuit at Daytona beach, USA. Florian Merckx is one of the highlights of the 2016 Ferrari Challenge Asia Pacific Championship. The last race was held on behalf of the Formula 1 race, on the spectacular street circuit of the Marina Bay.

Florian Merckx tells us first hand about his 2 wins in Singapore: "I managed to put the fastest time on track during the Free Practice session, and also during the Qualifying, which put me on Pole position for Race 1. The lap time was 2:21.6 sec, which is the fastest time ever recorded on this circuit with a Ferrari 458 Challenge,” Florian said. “I was extremely proud to win both races in Singapore as it makes me the new current leader of the championship, and also because of the exposition that a Formula 1 racing week-end brings you. All the important people of the motorsport world were there, so it was important for me to achieve a great result and get the maximum attention. I made a perfect weekend starting 2 times from Pole position, setting the fastest time of both races and getting 2 wins. It never happened to me before and I couldn’t have dreamed of more!”  There are only 2 races left in the championship, in Japan October 14-16^th, and the world finale in Daytona, USA, December 2-4th. Currently, Florian leads the Championship with 164 points; 5 points more than the Indonesian driver Renaldi Hutasoit, and 17 points more than the Australian Steve Wyatt.

Florian Merckx’s History

Florian contacted Hype Energy in January for the first time through Hype’s Instagram channel. He felt like Hype Energy was the perfect fit for his lifestyle, and to help him reach his fullest potential during his first PRO Class year in the Ferrari Challenge Asia Pacific . The Belgian driver began his first year in Europe competing in the Amateur class and finished 7th. The second year the Federation decided to put Florian straight in the PRO Category, and he finished the season in 3rd place, an excellent result for an extremely challenging category. In 2016 he began competing in the PRO class in the Asia Pacific Serie, and his hard work and dedication has really paid off as he leads the Championship after 2 brilliant wins at the Marina Bay Street Circuit. Hype ambassador and drift star, Haytham Samir, has welcomed Galal Hakeem and Khalid Ahmad, forming a brand new Hype Energy drinks racing team. “Rev it Up Competition” is one of the most successful and popular events on the Egypt drifting scene. Hype Energy's racing team have proudly participated in it for the first time. The trio have done a great job in their first race and have qualified for the second round, lead by Haytham Samir, who finished the race in fourth position. Keep your eyes on the Hype drifting team, they are champions on the rise!

This season has started off with great achievements for Haytham Samir and following him on this journey, is Hype’s car. The talented driver has landed 1st place in Speed Time Trials, 2nd place in Time Attack and 4th place in Car Park Drift! Haytham Samir is a car enthusiast that enjoys competing in many various sports competitions, such as drift. Which is when drivers intentionally oversteer and results in loss of traction in the rear wheels through turns, whilst still maintaining control and a high exit speed. As well as this, Haitham also enjoys competing solo in autocross, which is when drivers navigate one at a time through a defined course. This year Hype Energy will power up the adrenaline for Haitham, as he continues his journey throughout the different Arabic races in Egypt. This includes competitions such as, Egyptian Drifting Championship, Jordan Speed Test Championship and the Egyptian Autocross. We can say with every confidence that Haiham’s car is MFP’d and we are excited to see what excitement and high action lies ahead!  

Sahara Force India celebrated their home race in Silverstone, with Sergio Pérez securing 6th position and Nico Hülkenberg, in 7th final position. Force India drivers who started the race in 9th and 11th position, made an incredible effort to add 19 points for the team, in the Constructor's Championship. This was after extremely unstable weather conditions, at the beginning of the British GP.  As a result, the team were very happy with the outcome. As we know, Sahara Force India headquarters are just across the road from Silverstone's circuit, which makes the British GP their home race. To celebrate, the team’s sponsors put together memorable parties with exclusive appearances of the SFI drivers, for the British crowd in the Woodlands Campsite. At the Woodlands, fans kept the party going by drinking free Hype Energy drinks and partying to music provided by Skullcandy, who had their DJ booth just besides Kingfisher's hyper-coloured truck. As well as, Memento Exclusives were also there to share artistic F1 memorabilia and Brandon, who provided official merchandise. Hype Energy ran an exciting pit stop challenge in collaboration with Memento Exclusives. This involved fans competing throughout the weekend, so that they could become the fastest mechanic to change a wheel at Silverstone. The winners were announced on Saturday night and invited to the exclusive Sahara Force India party on Sunday. On this day, the Sahara Force India crew, drivers, sponsors and some lucky fans, spent the evening together celebrating the team's momentum.
